section which you will hopefully find useful
I enjoy teaching one-to-one private bass lessons and
offer patient and friendly tuition for all levels
of ability from beginner through to more advanced
players. My lessons are fun and relaxed. Remember

Technique
I
have various exercises and daily practice methods
which will help to improve both left and right hand
dexterity, this, coupled with theory/fret board knowledge
will soon get you on the right track. I can show you
how to get the most from the instrument and give you
a good 'well-rounded' understanding of the bass. My
lessons are tailored to the students needs and musical
preferences.
Styles
I
was first inspired to play the bass after listening
to the melodic bass lines of Paul McCartney, especially
the Beatles 'Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band'
album. The bassist James Jamerson is also a personal
favorite of mine and the work he did for artistes
such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and The Temptations
has influenced my bass playing a great deal. As have
players such as Pino Palladino, John Entwhistle, Flea,
Jaco and Stanley Clarke (and many more). I'm open
to teaching many styles including; Rock, Funk, Jazz,
Metal, Reggae and Latin.
Musicianship
Creating
bass lines for song writers ideas, playing with a
folk group, preparing for a sight reading gig, playing
with a rock band, playing with a jazz band, fusion,
swing, session work
.. I can pass on first hand
experience of all these things. Other topics in this
category include; Time keeping, grooving and improvising
over a chord chart. Also, industry, professionalism
and advise on how to earn a living from music.
